Occupational Health and Safety (OHS)

HPS is committed to maintaining a safe and compliant workplace. Our team is trained in Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) and fully aligned with the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 (OSHA 1994), including the latest amendments under the Occupational Safety and Health (Amendment) Act 2022. We are DOSH-certified (OSH-C) and registered with the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH).

In compliance with Section 29A(1) of OSHA 1994, we have appointed a DOSH-registered Occupational Safety and Health Coordinator (OSHC) to oversee and implement safety measures. We also carry out structured risk assessments to identify hazards and apply control measures, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.

HPS remains dedicated to upholding national safety standards through effective training, compliance, and risk management.

Hazard Identification and Risk Control
As part of our commitment to safety, we regularly conduct Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Risk Control (HIRARC) to identify and minimize workplace hazards. This process is an essential part of our risk management strategy, allowing us to anticipate potential risks and mitigate them before they can cause harm.

Workplace Safety Enhancements
Our training also helps us better understand material handling, workstation ergonomics, and proper lighting, contributing to a safer work environment for all. We continually raise awareness around machine safety and the importance of welfare facilities, ensuring that safety and well-being are shared priorities across the workplace.

HPS practice 5S for Safer, Healthier Workspaces. We believe that maintaining a clean and organized workplace is a simple yet powerful step toward ensuring safety and well-being. As part of our commitment to occupational health and safety, we implement the 5S methodologySort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain—to maintain clean, efficient, and hazard-free workspaces.

In our daily operations, unnecessary tools and materials are regularly removed (Sort), equipment is clearly labeled and stored in designated places (Set in Order), and workstations are cleaned and inspected routinely (Shine). These efforts help us quickly identify potential safety risks, such as equipment wear or spills, before they become problems. Standard procedures and visual cues (Standardize) help maintain consistent practices across teams, and we encourage all employees to take ownership of their spaces and safety habits (Sustain).

While we are still improving our 5S practices, we see positive results in creating a safer, more focused, and more respectful workplace. It’s a continuous journey, but one we believe makes a real difference in the long term. It’

We make it a point to remove scrap and waste promptly as part of our efforts to maintain a safe and orderly work environment. By managing by-products like metal shavings and other waste in a timely manner, we aim to reduce the risk of slips, trips, and other potential hazards. While we’re continuously improving our practices, this simple step reflects our commitment to keeping the workplace clean, safe, and respectful for everyone.

We carry out regular cleaning and inspections to help keep our workspaces tidy, organized, and free from potential hazards. These ongoing efforts support a safer and more comfortable environment for everyone.

  • Employees are equipped with safety shoes, goggles, gloves, and masks to protect against workplace hazards.
  • Goggles protect eyes from flying debris, safety shoes prevent foot injuries, and masks reduce exposure to dust and fumes.
  • PPE is regularly checked for wear and tear, ensuring all protective gear is in good condition and effectively safeguards employees.
  • Cutting tools such as drills, saws, and blades are kept sharp and well-maintained to prevent accidents caused by dull tools.
  • Tool holders and clamps are used to secure workpieces during machining, improving stability and reducing risks.
  • Employees receive proper training on safe tool handling and storage, preventing misuse and enhancing workplace safety.

At HPS, we strive to ensure first aid boxes are readily available and stocked with essential supplies. While we do our best to keep them updated, we understand that occasional oversights can happen. To maintain safety, we:

  • Regularly check and restock first aid supplies like bandages and antiseptics.
  • Place first aid boxes in accessible locations throughout the workplace.
  • Raise awareness of first aid box locations to ensure quick access in emergencies.
  • Perform routine inspections to ensure boxes are in good condition.

We are committed to improving our practices and maintaining a safe environment for all.

We prioritize the responsible management of machining fluids and coolants to minimize environmental and safety risks. To ensure safe operations:

  • Containment systems are in place to prevent leaks and spills, reducing potential hazards.
  • Regular monitoring and replacement of machining fluids help maintain their effectiveness and safety.
  • Employees receive training on safe handling and disposal methods, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.

This approach reflects our ongoing commitment to safety and environmental responsibility.

We prioritize safety in the use of compressed air to prevent injuries and accidents. To ensure proper handling:

  • Employees are trained to avoid using compressed air for cleaning skin or clothing, as it can cause serious injuries.
  • Pressure regulators and safety nozzles are installed to prevent excessive force and unsafe usage.
  • Routine maintenance of compressed air systems ensures safe operation and reduces potential hazards.

These practices help us maintain a safe and efficient working environment for all.

At HPS, we promote a proactive safety culture by encouraging employees to report hazards and suggest improvements. To ensure ongoing safety:

  • Regular safety programs and training sessions reinforce best practices and keep employees informed.
  • We continuously evaluate and improve safety measures to align with industry standards and maintain a secure work environment.

Our goal is to create a workplace where safety is always a priority.
